Rwanda offers 30-day visa on arrival for all global citizens. For dual Rwanda-Uganda journeys, the East Africa Tourist Visa ($100 USD) provides multi-entry travel.
Rwanda gorilla permits are $1,500 USD (directly funding conservation); Uganda permits are $800 USD. Daily numbers are strictly capped to 8 guests per gorilla family.
Rainforest trekking requires waterproof hiking boots with ankle support, long moisture-wicking trousers, garden gloves (for thorny vines), and rain ponchos.
Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for entry into Uganda and for travelers arriving from risk zones. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended for savanna sectors.
